Adapting a Web Design into an Email Template

May 26, 2011

Typically an email design project will be associated with an existing brand, there is always a website design in place that you can work from.

You want to make your email design feel like it is being sent from the companies website.

In 2006 a survey showed that the biggest influence on whether emails were opened was trust that it is from a reliable sender. If the email user recognises branding, colours, and titles the preview pane will remind the recipient about the company delivering the email.
It is important that you do not go over the top when designing the email and try to replicate the entire website.

The design should take the feel of the brand that will work for an email. An email template that visually disconnects from the website it is linked to will not attract users to visit the website in future.
