The difference between black hat SEO and white SEO is all to do with the techniques used when attempting to improve a website’s search engine ranking.

Black hat SEO refers to strategies used to get higher search rankings, but they break the search engine rules. As it focuses on only search engines and not on the human audience, it’s typically used by people who are looking for a quick return on their site, rather than a long-term investment on their website.

Whereas white hat SEO refers to the use of strategies that target a human audience compared to a search engine. Those who use white hat SEO expect to make a long-term investment on their website, as the results last a long time.

Even though this page may rise in the rankings (briefly), when a human reader clicks on the URL, they will likely not find what they are looking for and just leave the site, almost immediately.

A white hat however will conduct keyword research, and create content that naturally involves the relevant keywords, with the intention of keeping a visitor on the site.
